Here’s a feel-good story you can “paws” and read: the five puppies dumped in a Popeye’s parking lot soon will find their fur-ever homes.

As previously reported, a passerby found the then-6-week-old puppies near the restaurant on Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan when the temperatures started to drop on the night of Dec. 1. The passerby kept them safe until turning them over to the city’s animal control department.

The puppies, now 7 weeks old, then went to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter going to their foster parent, Emily Gassmann, a dog groomer at Bark Avenue Canine Designs in southwest Manhattan, on Dec. 2.

Shelter staff originally named the puppies Popcorn Shrimp, Chocolate Chip Biscuit, Coleslaw, Gumbo and Chicken Dipper. Since then, Gassmann has renamed them to Philoctetes, Haven, Dumpling, Bosco and Polites, respectively.
