A long-time Washburn University professor and his wife were killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Brown County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol crash log says that a 2016 Freightliner was traveling Westbound on K-20, and a 2019 Ford F-150 was traveling Southbound on US-75 around 8:00 a.m. when the semi-truck failed to stop at the stop sign at the K-20/US-75 junction and struck the Ford F150.

The semi-truck rolled onto its side in the ditch West of US-75, and the driver and passenger in the semi were taken to Sabetha Community Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the F-150, 64-year-old David Provorse, and 62-year-old passenger Marcia Provorse, both from Topeka, were pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of his death, Provorse had been an associate psychology professor at Washburn University for over 30 years.
