PHOENIX, Arizona — In the middle of preparing for a bowl game, dealing with the transfer portal, traveling to Phoenix and the myriad of other things Kansas State has had on its plate over the last couple of weeks, Kansas State coaches found a way to honor a long-time member of the Wildcat family who recently passed.

Former K-State player and assistant coach Dana Dimel died on Dec. 3 at age 62. The news shocked and saddened many in and outside of the Wildcat program, which is why head coach Chris Klieman and his staff felt they needed to do something to honor his contributions to the program over the years in the Wildcats’ 44-41 win over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl on Thursday.

The first was a sticker that the Wildcats wore on the back of their white helmets. The sticker had his initials (DD) in purple outlined in lavender.
