What keeps your city commissioners up at night?

With a leadership style that emphasizes transparency and consensus building, Peter Oppelt is almost done with his first run as a Manhattan City Commissioner and will be seeking reelection for a second. On today’s episode of Within Reason with Mike Matson, the U.S. Army veteran and daytime insurance agent speaks on high interest rates, federal budget cuts, and his work-life balance.

Oppelt understands that hard conversations are necessary in a time of uncertainty. He facilitates these in the city commission room, on social media, and over coffee with community members at the public library. Vocal and involved in his post, he encourages Manhattan residents to contact state representatives with their thoughts and ideas as changes continue at the state and federal level.
