The Riley County Police Department released its latest reports, detailing a busy day of law enforcement activity in Manhattan, Kansas.
Accidents and Incidents
Between March 8 and 9, officers responded to multiple incidents, including a reported injury accident on Zeandale Road early in the morning on March 9. Additionally, several non-injury accidents were logged across the city, including one near Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Marlatt Avenue.
Alcohol-Related Offenses
Police issued 19 citations for minor in possession (MIP) and 65 open container violations, particularly in the area near Bertrand and Thurston streets. Reports indicate a concentration of these offenses in student-heavy neighborhoods. Officers also made five arrests for driving under the influence (DUI).
Arrests and Criminal Activity
Authorities made 22 arrests over the weekend, ranging from disorderly conduct to more serious offenses. Among the notable incidents:
- A 21-year-old Topeka man was arrested for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while under the influence near Moro Street. His bond was set at $15,000.
- A 20-year-old Junction City man was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and domestic battery. His bond was set at $21,000.
- Several arrests for DUI, drug possession, and criminal trespass were also reported.
