A Riley County District Court judge on Tuesday denied an attorney’s request to withdraw from a case that includes nearly 100 counts of sex crimes against a child.
Defense attorney Jonathan Phelps in February filed a motion with the court to withdraw as counsel for Thomas Quinn, 39, who faces charges of 96 counts of sex crimes, child abuse and battery.
The of charges include 22 counts of rape of a victim under 14 years old; one count of aggravated criminal sodomy of a victim under 14 years old; 20 counts of aggravated indecent libertieswith a child — fondling a victim under 14 years old; 17 counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child — intercourse with a victim between 14 and 16 years old; 17 counts of indecent liberties with a child — lewd fondling of a victim between 14 and 16 years old; one count of knowingly torturing or cruelly abusing a child; two counts of abusing a child — knowingly impeding the breath or circulation of a victim less than 18 years old; and 16 counts of aggravated battery of a victim between 11 and 12 years old.
