WAMEGO, May 21 — Caterpillar Inc., notified its workforce at the Wamego facility today that Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar subsidiary, will take ownership of the facility, according to a company spokesperson. Solar Turbines will continue manufacturing operations in Wamego and use the existing workforce.

Caterpillar had announced in June, 2024, it was closing the Wamego plant sometime mid-summer of 2025. The facility had been listed for sale for $11.5 million.
