Authorities are investigating a pair of arson reports from over the weekend in northern Riley County.

According to the Riley County Police Department, three people, aged 40, 41 and 72, were listed as victims when a 30-year-old unnamed individual started a fire Friday evening, just after 5:30 p.m. Police said the fire damaged two wheat fields and equipment on one property.

The fires were reported in the 1400 block of Senn Road and near the intersection of Walsburg and Madison Creek Roads, north of Leonardville.

The estimated total loss from both fields was $6,250.

An RCPD spokesperson told The Mercury Monday that the suspect was a person not known to the victims.

No arrests had been made as of noon Monday. RCPD is continuing to investigate.
