Riley County is projected to receive $620,178 in opioid funds over the next 13 years. The county had allocated opioid funds toward Community Corrections and the Department of Health. Both departments requested the continuation of these funds.
“The Health Department is asking to continue their education, the community health educator that they have, and then Community Corrections is asking to continue their drug court program,” Brittany Phillips, the budget and finance officer, said.
Phillips said there is also the potential to use these funds for district court, EMS’ medication administration training or organizations like Pawnee Mental Health and Be Able.
