    Manhattan woman convicted for fentanyl charges

    A Manhattan woman’s trial in Riley County District Court ended Wednesday, with a jury convicting her of five charges, including conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and other drugs near a school.

    Catrien Ann Van Petten, 36, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute over 1,000 units of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with the intent to distribute between 10 and 99 units of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    She was arrested by Riley County Police officers in May 2024 for the crimes, she reportedly had over 7,000 fentanyl pills that she was selling and intending to sell. Her trial began Tuesday with Riley County District Court Judge John Bosch and ended a day earlier than scheduled.

    Van Petten is scheduled for sentencing at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10.
