Officers responded to an unattended death in 3700 block of Pillsbury Drive in Manhattan on September 4, 2025, at approximately 9:41 a.m. A 23-year-old man was found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. At this time, there is no reason to believe there was any other party involved in the man’s death.
John Deem, 34, of Manhattan, was arrested on September 3, 2025, at approximately 3:13 p.m., in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road in Manhattan for violating the offender registration act. This arrest stems from a report filed in August 2025. Deem was issued a total bond of $15,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
