RCPD warns of scam calls from impersonator

    0
By KMAN Staff on September 26, 2025 Local News

Riley County Police are alerting residents to a phone scam in which callers falsely claim to be Sergeant Dunn of the department.

Police said several citizens recently reported receiving calls telling them they needed to turn themselves in to law enforcement over serious legal matters. Authorities emphasized that RCPD will never request payment over the phone.

Residents are urged to verify any suspicious calls through trusted sources before sharing personal information. Police advise never making payments over the phone to someone you do not know.

Anyone who receives a similar call should contact RCPD at 785-537-2112 to confirm whether it was an officer or employee making contact.
