A strong second half and a smothering defensive effort led the way as the Kansas State women topped Troy 81-59 on Tuesday, snapping a two-game losing streak.
After a slow start early, the Wildcats used a strong third quarter to gain separation and carried that momentum through into the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The win was K-State’s first in over a week after back-to-back losses to South Dakota and Texas A&M.
“This has been a tough week for us,” head coach Jeff Mittie said. “(I was) really pleased that we were able to battle and not play great, but play well enough and have some balance to that. Because I think everybody did some good things.”
Thursday’s game wrapped up a stretch of five games in 10 days for the Wildcats, including three games that came down to the wire.
