    Manhattan High wrestling squads showcase strong start in statement week

    Manhattan High head wrestling coach Shawn Bammes huddles with his boys’ and girls’ teams after their dual against Bonner Springs Thursday night in Manhattan.

    Manhattan High wrestling turned senior night into a statement Thursday, sweeping Bonner Springs in a pair of duals before backing it up with strong showings across the state over the weekend.

    The Manhattan girls rolled to a 72–12 win, while the boys followed with a 64–11 victory, setting the tone for a weekend that doubled as both a results check and an early-season measuring stick.

    On Saturday, the back-to-back defending boys state champions and the dangerous MHS girls split up — and delivered.
