A 77-year-old man was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle near Riley.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Madison Road/US-77 just west of the Falcon Road/US 24 intersection.

Authorities say the pedestrian Thomas McHugh, of Riley was struck and killed. The crash report indicates two vehicles were involved, including a Chevrolet Lumina, driven by 63-year-old Stephen Williams, of Green and a Chevy Silverado, driven by 20-year-old Jude Benson, of Clay Center. It is not clear from the report which vehicle struck McHugh.

Williams and his passenger, Brenda Lynn Williams, 71, of Green, were both reported to have possible injuries and were also transported to Via Christi Hospital with complaints of pain, according to the preliminary report. Both were properly restrained at the time of the collision.

Benson was reported as having no apparent injury and was wearing a seat belt.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
