While many Kansas State fans slept late Monday night, Kansas State coaches added perhaps the highest caliber transfer portal addition so far.
Former Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory, the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year last season, is making the short trip north from Manhattan to Stillwater, according to reports.
The sophomore edge rusher was a four-star prospect out of high school, and a four-star transfer portal target. A native of Marietta, Georgia, Gregory started his career at South Carolina but played sparingly, retaining his redshirt, before jumping to Oklahoma State.
As a Cowboy, Gregory racked up a team-high four sacks and 12 tackles for loss, the most of any freshman in FBS and the fifth-most in the conference. He also ended the season with 27 total tackles, seven quarterback hurries, a pass breakup and a forced fumble.
An all-Big 12 third-team pick, the 6-foot-3 portal add helps buoy a Wildcat defensive line that lost several major contributors to the transfer portal, including Tobi Osunsanmi (Indiana) and Chiddi Obiazor (Indiana).
