Former Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang has hired legal representation following his Sunday night firing, and they’re coming out swinging.
On Monday afternoon, ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced that Tang had retained lawyers Tom Mars and Bennett Speyer in response to K-State terminating the fourth-year head coach with cause.
Mars, who is a fairly prominent lawyer in the college sports world who recently represented Mississippi quarterback Trinidad Chambliss in a successful eligibility suit against the NCAA earlier this year, did not hold back in a statement given to ESPN Monday aimed at K-State president Richard Linton and athletics director Gene Taylor.
“If (Linton) and (Taylor) really think the school was embarrassed by recent events, that’s nothing compared to the embarrassment that both of them are about to experience,” Mars said.
