Manhattan girls outlast Maize in 53-44 win

Manhattan High girls’ basketball shook off tired legs and a quick turnaround Saturday, pulling away late for a 53-44 win at Maize.

The Indians, coming off a league victory less than 24 hours earlier, found themselves in a battle throughout. Manhattan carried a 26-23 lead into halftime, but the Eagles responded in the third quarter and tied the game entering the final eight minutes.

That’s when Manhattan found another gear.

The Indians outscored Maize by nine in the fourth quarter to secure the win and improve to 14-4 overall.

Senior Kat Ball led the way with 21 points, delivering the steady scoring Manhattan needed in the closing stretch. Delaney Larson and Jelena Depusoir each added 8 points, while Evie Banks chipped in 5. Ansley Becket finished with 4, Jorryn Hall added 3, Bailey Busch scored 3, and Avery Ingram had 1.
