Officers responded to a report of an injury crash at the intersection of Bluemont Ave and Tuttle Creek Blvd on February 24, 2026, at approximately 2:26 pm. Upon arrival, officers found a 2020 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jesse McDonald, 25, of Mound City struck a 2018 Harley Motorcycle, driven by Donald George, 59, of Manhattan which then struck a 2020 Ford Explorer, driven by Layrnn Reed, 31, of Manhattan. George was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. McDonald was issued a citation for following too closely.
Officers responded to an unattended death in the 1800 block of Wildcat Creek Rd in Manhattan on February 24, 2026, at approximately 2:07 pm. A 23-year-old man was found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. At this time, we have no reason to believe there was any other party involved in the man’s death.
Michael Brooks, 33, of Manhattan was arrested on February 24, 2026, at approximately 1:12 pm on a Riley County District Court warrant for battery and criminal trespass. Brooks was issued a total bond of $7,500 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
