Police are investigating two separate fraud cases reported Monday in Manhattan, with combined losses totaling more than $13,000.
According to the Riley County Police Department, officers filed a fraud report at approximately 4:04 p.m. Feb. 23 in the 700 block of Highland Ridge Drive. A 38-year-old woman reported that an unknown suspect took out student loans in her name. The estimated loss associated with the case is $9,914.
Earlier that day, at approximately 1:54 p.m., officers filed a report of larceny in the 100 block of Bluemont Avenue. A 76-year-old man reported that an unknown suspect conducted a telephone scam involving money transfers. The estimated loss in that case is $3,503.74.
No additional information was immediately released.
