Numbers from the 2026 Fake Patty’s Day festivities were similar to what was seen last year, with overall crime and incidents trending down from the 10-year average. While RCPD representatives said official numbers won’t be released until April, The Mercury obtained a report from the department on Monday.
This year’s celebrations resulted in an increase of six more citations than 2025, but the 296 citations issued between 7 p.m. March 6 and 6 a.m. March 8 still put this year as 19% below the 10-year average.
The Riley County Police Department’s 10-year data did not include the years of 2020 and 2021 because of the effect of COVID-19 on the event.
