Officers responded to a pedestrian versus train incident at approximately 2:10 a.m. on March 30, 2026 near East Highway 24 and Levee Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old person who was struck by a train and died at the scene. No further information will be released this time.
Emma Morgenstern, 25, of Russell, was arrested at approximately 8:20 p.m. on March 27 in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road on a Riley County District Court warrant for two counts of interference with a law enforcement officer. This arrest stems from an original report from March of 2025. Morgenstern was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.
Officers filed a report of battery on law enforcement officer at approximately 4:37 p.m. on March 27 in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road. A 20-year-old woman was listed as the victim and a 27-year-old man was listed as the suspect. Ronnie Summerset Jr., 27, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 6:03 p.m. for battery on a law enforcement officer. Summerset Jr. was issued a total bond of $8,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report of aggravated assault at approximately 1:18 p.m. on March 27 in the 4000 block of Caitlin Drive. A 42-year-old woman was listed as the victim and a known 25-year-old woman was listed as the suspect when it was reported that the suspect threatened the victim with a knife.
