A water line break Wednesday afternoon led Wamego city officials to issue a boil water advisory for part of the city, affecting residents north of Highway 24.
While the line was repaired by Wednesday evening, the advisory remains in place until further notice. City officials said on social media the affected area was primarily in the Mansfield neighborhood and surrounding areas.
USD 320 says the advisory is only affecting Wamego Middle School, which remains in session Thursday on a normal schedule. Bottled water is available for students at breakfast, lunch, and throughout the day. Families are also encouraged to send a water bottle with their student as drinking fountains will be turned off and unavailable for use. The middle school kitchen staff will use boiled or bottled water as needed.
