A trial scheduled to begin Thursday in Riley County District Court has instead been postponed until the defendant receives a competency evaluation.
Daniel Francis Lee was arrested in August 2024 for battering four county corrections officers. His case was scheduled for trial Thursday and Friday, but was continued after Lee’s defense attorney made a motion Thursday morning for a competency evaluation.
Phylemon Yau requested the court order an evaluation of his client, “to determine his competency to assist his counsel in the preparation of his defense.”
