Officers filed a report of theft by deception at approximately 8:09 p.m. on June 16, 2026 in the 2700 block of Anderson Avenue. Walgreens was listed as the victim when it was reported two unknown female suspects scammed an employee into loading gift cards without payment. The total estimated loss associated with this case is $1,557.20. Anyone with information, contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward up to $1,000.

Officers filed a report of theft by deception at approximately 6:35 p.m. on June 16 in the 300 block of Bluemont Avenue. Walgreens was listed as the victim when it was reported two unknown female suspects scammed an employee into loading gift cards without payment. The total estimated loss associated with this case is $1,596.95. Anyone with information, contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward up to $1,000.

Officers filed a report of theft of property or services at approximately 2:33 p.m. on June 16 in Manhattan. A 78-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported a known suspect stole various coins. The estimated total loss associated with this case is $88,000.

Austin Kirk Swafford, 41, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 10:06 a.m. on June 16 near 11th Street and Osage Street on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This arrest stems from an original charge of possession of methamphetamine. Swafford was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
