Drivers should prepare for upcoming traffic delays and detours as the city prepares for two asphalt maintenance projects later this month.
Bayer Construction will begin a one-week mill and overlay project on Westwood Road from Fort Riley Boulevard to Oak Street on Monday. The city expects work to wrap up around June 22 depending on weather.
Crews will allow through traffic on Westwood Road. Mobile operations will control traffic using advance warning signs and flaggers. The special street maintenance fund, powered by the local 0.2% sales tax, funds the $987,555 budget for all five sites of the 2026 asphalt maintenance group 1 projects.
