A Junction City man with multiple prior felony convictions and a history in the Kansas prison system is facing new drug and weapons charges following his latest arrest.
According to the Junction City Police Department, Brandon Lloyd Welty, 27, of Junction City, was arrested at approximately 2:25 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of West Seventh Street.
Welty was booked into the Geary County Detention Center on suspicion of possession of an unknown controlled substance, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal carrying of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use it. Jail records show he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
The arrest follows several previous convictions and periods of incarceration documented by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
KDOC records show Welty was convicted in Riley County in 2023 of aggravated burglary and misdemeanor theft stemming from a February 2022 case. He also has prior convictions in Jackson County for possession of marijuana and attempted obstruction of legal process, and a conviction in Saline County for possession of opiates.
Department of Corrections records indicate Welty served time in the Kansas prison system, including assignments at the El Dorado Reception and Diagnostic Unit and Lansing Correctional Facility. He was paroled on multiple occasions, had probation and supervision violations, and was discharged from one prison sentence on Nov. 20, 2025.
