A 48-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say he attempted to steal merchandise from a Manhattan retail store using a device designed to remove anti-theft security tags.
The Riley County Police Department said officers filed a report just after 1 p.m. July 22 at Burlington, located in the 400 block of Third Place.
According to police, a male suspect was using a theft detection removal device in an attempt to steal merchandise from the store.
Carlos Jesus Lima De La Fe, 48 was arrested just after 2 p.m. on suspicion of attempted theft by deception and unlawful possession of a tool used to remove a theft detection device.
Lima De La Fe was issued a total bond of $12,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
