A Junction City motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Saturday evening in a two-motorcycle crash on K-57 in Geary County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:26 p.m. on K-57 just south of I-70
The highway patrol said a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle traveling north slowed after its rider observed another motorcycle crash ahead. A second motorcycle was traveling behind the Yamaha and struck it from the rear after the lead rider braked. The second motorcycle flipped end over end before coming to rest in the roadway..
The rider of the second motorcycle, Vie K. Velazquez Calderon, 25, of Junction City, was transported to Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus in Junction City with suspected serious injuries. Troopers reported he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The rider of the Yamaha, Aaron G. Hoover, 27, of Leonardville, was not injured. He also was wearing a helmet, according to the crash report.
