The Riley County Police Department is investigating two attempted vehicle thefts reported Sunday in the 4400 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard.

The first incident was reported just after 8 a.m. July 5. A 22-year-old woman told officers an unknown suspect forcibly entered her 2023 Kia Sportage while attempting to steal it. Police filed a report for criminal damage to property and attempted theft of property or services. The total estimated loss had not been determined at the time of the report.

Later that day, just after 3 p.m., officers filed a second report after a 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man reported an unknown suspect damaged the steering column of their 2015 Kia Sportage while attempting to steal the vehicle. Police are investigating that incident as burglary, criminal damage to property and attempted theft of property or services. The estimated loss exceeds $1,000.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact the Riley County Police Department or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
