Officers responded to a report of an injury accident at approximately 5:33 p.m. on July 9, 2026 in the 400 block of N. Martin Luther King Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a 2008 Ford Econoline, driven by William Joseph Eichem, 46, of Manhattan, had crashed into a 2025 Subaru Forrester, driven by Teressa Chandler, 69, of Manhattan. There were two additional passengers in the Subaru. Chandler was transported to Via Christi Hospital for her injuries. Eichem was arrested for driving while suspended and driving while a habitual violator. Eichem was issued a total bond of $3,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.
