The owner of the planned site for the Rock the Plains concert announced late Friday night that this year’s event is no longer happening.
The event was scheduled for Aug. 7-8 at 32750 Wabaunsee Road in Alma.
The land owner, Patrick Shannon, said on Facebook that he had made a similar post several days ago, but event organizers asked him to take it down until artists signed off on the cancellation. No official announcement from event organizers has been released at the time of publication.
Shannon said he put out this new announcement when he saw tickets are still for sale.
At the initial time of publication at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, tickets were still purchasable online. As of noon Saturday, tickets are no longer purchasable.
“I found out tonight that you can still purchase tickets for the show which is a bunch of BS,” Shannon said in his Friday post. “That was several days ago and they still have not announced the show has been canceled. They don’t seem to understand it is my reputation in a local community on the line not theirs!”
Shannon said he had nothing to do with the planning or execution of Rock the Plains.
- “I have informed them that if they have it in the future I will not be a part of it,” he said.
