A small apartment fire caused minor damage Thursday morning at the Country Meadow Residences.
According to the Manhattan Fire Department, crews responded just after 6 a.m. to 1300 Marlatt Ave., where firefighters found flames visible through the front window of a first-floor apartment in a two-story, eight-unit building.
Eighteen firefighters on six apparatus responded and extinguished the fire within seven minutes of arriving on scene.
No injuries were reported, and no one was inside the apartment when the fire started. A passerby called 911 to report the fire.
The Manhattan Fire Department estimated the contents loss at $5,000. No structural damage was reported.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but foul play is not suspected.
