A Manhattan man has been arrested in connection with the theft of more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart earlier this week.
According to the Riley County Police Department, Mark Christopher Chapman, 54, was arrested Thursday evening in the 2100 block of Fort Riley Boulevard.
The arrest stems from Wednesday’s theft at the Walmart in the 100 block of Bluemont Avenue, where police say two suspects stole two lawn mowers, a grass trimmer and a bottle of cranberry juice.
Chapman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and theft of property or services valued at less than $1,500, along with a second count alleging theft with two or more prior shoplifting convictions within the past five years.
He was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.
