Officers filed a report of two counts of criminal threat, interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property and criminal deprivation of property at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2026 in Manhattan. A 36-year-old woman was listed as the victim. A known 33-year-old man was listed as the suspect. Brandon Lee Gibson, 33, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 4:55 a.m. for two counts of criminal threat, interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property and criminal deprivation of property. Gibson was issued a total bond of $25,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers responded to a report of an injury accident at approximately 9:57 p.m. on Aug. 1 near Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Marlatt Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by Hanna Marie Helget, 20, of Westmorland, had crashed into the back of a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by Ryder Rice, 20, of Fort Riley. Rice was transported to Via Christi Hospital for injuries. Helget was arrested at approximately 10:36 p.m. for one count of aggravated battery; DUI causing bodily harm and one count of driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol. Helget was issued a total bond of $20,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Cecilia Gonzalez Chavez, 32, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 12:05 p.m. on July 31 in the 1500 block of Jarvis Drive on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. The original charges include aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal threat. Officers also filed a report for possession of opiate/opium/narcotic or certain stimulant and use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body at approximately 11:58 p.m. Gonzalez Chavez was then arrested for possession of opiate/opium/narcotic or certain stimulant and use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body. Gonzalez Chavez was issued a total bond of $5,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of aggravated assault at approximately 1:59 a.m. on Aug. 1 in the 700 block of Allen Road. A 24-year-old woman was listed as the victim when it was reported an unknown male pointed a firearm at her. Anyone with information, contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward up to $1,000.

Messiah Rameek Jacobs, 16, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Aug. 1 in the 1100 block of Moro Street on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of disorderly conduct. This arrest stems from a report originally filed in May 2026. Jacobs was issued no bond and remains confined at the Geary County Juvenile Detention Center.
