Niomi Beth Nickel, 36, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2026 in the 1100 block of Moro Street on two counts of violating Riley County District Court protection orders. Officers also filed a report for interference with a law enforcement officer, resulting in a second arrest. Nickel was issued a total bond of $6,750 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Mark Christopher Chapman, 54, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the 2100 block of Fort Riley Blvd. for theft of property or services; value less than $1500; shoplifting and theft of property or services; less than $1500 with two or more convictions within five years; shoplifting. This arrest stems from a report originally filed on Aug. 5 when it was reported two unknown suspects stole two lawn mowers, one grass trimmer and a bottle of cranberry juice from the 100 block of Bluemont Ave. Walmart was listed as the victim. Chapman was issued no bond and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.

Samantha Jane Harris, 40, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 4:17 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the 600 block of Poyntz Avenue on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. This arrest stems from original charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal trespass. Harris was issued no bond and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report of aggravated assault at approximately 9:08 a.m. on Aug. 6 in Leonardville. A 70-year-old woman was listed as the victim. A known 77-year-old man was listed as the suspect. David Ahlerich, 77, of Leonardville, was arrested for aggravated assault at approximately 2:58 p.m. Ahlerich was issued a total bond of $5,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
