A K-State student is recovering at a Topeka hospital Thursday after surviving a 70-foot fall from a highway bridge.

Kyra Kinnison, 21, is at Stormont-Vail hospital following an incident Friday night at the East Riley Avenue offramp on Kansas Highway 18 near Ogden.

According to a statement from a friend, Kinnison had stopped near a multi-vehicle crash and was standing on the shoulder of the road when she saw a truck approaching. The truck reportedly was swerving to avoid debris and other vehicles in the roadway. Kinnison jumped to avoid being hit and accidentally fell off the bridge.
