Motorists traveling along I-70 in Shawnee County can expect ramp closures beginning Monday as part of an ongoing pavement improvement project.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, three ramps will temporarily close Oct. 26, with closures expected to remain in place through Friday, Nov. 6, weather permitting.
The affected ramps include the westbound I-70 exit to K-4/Auburn Road, the Patton Road entrance ramp to westbound I-70 and the Valencia Road entrance ramp to westbound I-70.
Motorists exiting westbound I-70 at K-4/Auburn Road will be directed to Valencia Road, where they can access eastbound I-70 and return to the K-4/Auburn Road exit.
Drivers entering westbound I-70 from Patton Road will be detoured to K-4/Auburn Road, while motorists entering from Valencia Road will be directed eastbound on I-70 to K-4/Auburn Road before returning westbound.
KDOT says marked detours, message boards and signage will be in place to guide motorists through the affected areas.
All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
Motorists are encouraged to remain alert in work zones and follow posted signs. Current road conditions are available at KanDrive.gov or by calling 511.
