Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash on I-70 near Junction City during a pursuit involving the Geary County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 4 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70, just east of the Washington Street exit.
The crash report states that deputies were pursuing a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 41-year-old Seth A. Moreland, of Caney, when he exited I-70 and re-entered the interstate traveling the wrong way.
Moreland’s pickup struck a westbound 2019 Cadillac XT5 head-on in the interchange area. The Cadillac was driven by 62-year-old Diane M. Lister, of Chapman.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries.
The crash report indicates Moreland was not wearing a seat belt, while Lister was properly restrained.
