Update 5/1 4:40 p.m.- The Pottawatomie County patient at Ascension Via Christi has been released from the hospital. This means there is only one hospitalization at this time. That patient is a Riley County resident.
During today’s daily COVID-19 update, Riley County Health Department Director says while stay at home orders will expire on Sunday, the department is still encouraging people to stay home and only leave their homes for essential travel. Also, a hotline will be available Monday to answer for businesses who are able to open with the county’s reopening plan.

The availability of testing is increasing locally.
Numbers of positive coronavirus cases continue to climb, and most likely will continue that upward trend as more testing becomes available in the Manhattan area. As of Friday, the Riley County Health Department reported two more individual cases involving a 57-year old woman and 38-year-old man. The woman is recovering in isolation at her home. The man is currently hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi.
There are now 25 active cases and 26 people have recovered, for a total of 51 cases since March 20. Sixty tests results are pending and 438 people have tested negative.
In Pottawatomie County, eight of the 13 total positive cases have recovered. There are currently five active cases. One Pottawatomie County resident is also hospitalized. The hospital is also monitoring two people under investigation for possible COVID-19 symptoms.
KDHE was reporting Geary County at 14 confirmed cases as of Friday afternoon.
Officials from Riley, Pottawatomie and Geary counties are currently working on an announcement about a phased reopening of business in the area. Details on that plan could be released by late Friday or Saturday.
