A KBI officer was injured in a search that was conducted early Thursday morning in Shawnee County for child sexual abuse material in Rossville. Officers from the KBI Northeast Child Victims Task Force along with the KBI Cyber Crime Unit and Rossville Police conducted a search warrant just after 6:30 a.m. at a home in the small community. Authorities allege the suspect, 55-year-old John Ross bit a KBI agent while being detained. The agent was treated and released. Ross was transported to Stormont Vail for minor injuries. The Manhattan Parks and Rec Board voted Monday to send a recommendation to the City Commission on the Move MHK! Plan that will be considered on June 18. The commission was somewhat divided on the plan, stating that while they had received a basic rundown of the plan, there were still many questions with it due to the length of the presentation which was over 500 pages. Three Wichita residents are confined in Riley County Jail following a Tuesday afternoon arrest for theft from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Manhattan. Police filed a report for theft at approximately 3:02 pm on Tuesday after three females entered the store and left with over $3,000 in merchandise that they did not pay for. Police ultimately arrested 19-year-old Eliva Richards and 20-year-old Inayjha Ware at approximately 3:30 on one count of theft. Shortly there after, police then arrested 18-year-old Jvon Adams-Morgan on the same charge. All three women are confined in the Riley County Jail on a $4,000 bond as of…

The application process has come to an close as city officials search for a new city manager following the retirement of Ron Fehr earlier this spring. City officials noted on KMAN’s In Focus Tuesday morning they have received 44 applications for the vacancy. Now, the process narrows to who will be finalists for the position and ultimately the city commission’s choice on who to hire. A member of the Riley County Law Board has announced his candidacy for the open 67th legislative district left vacated by retiring state Rep. Mike Dodson. Kaleb James announced his candidacy just prior to Monday’s filing deadline as he’ll run for the Republican nomination for the seat. He joins Republican Angel Roeser and Democrat Kim Zito in the battle for the seat. James says he’s running after receiving vocal support from his constituents and close friends. A former Manhattan city commissioner and mayor has announced her intention to run for the 51st legislative district. Linda Morse, who served on the city commission from 2015 until 2023 and was mayor from 2017-18 and in 2022, announced on Monday she will seek the Democratic nomination for the seat which is being left vacated by incumbent Kenny Titus who is running for the State Senate.
