A Manhattan woman got herself in trouble with the law after she was arrested for driving under the influence and failed stop at an accident. Teresa Garcia, 53, of Manhattan, was arrested on Monday evening just prior to 9:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Crestwood Drive. Garcia was arrested on the probable cause offenses of aggravated battery, DUI, failure to stop at an accident, interference with an law enforcement officer, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A local man was arrested on Monday evening for domestic battery. Police arrested Mason Randolph, 35, of Manhattan just after 6:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of Brockman Street. Randolph was arrested for the probable cause offenses of criminal damage to property, aggravated assault, and domestic battery. Total bond was set at $13,000. Kansas Congressman Tracey Mann introduced legislation on Friday called the Pony Up Act, which would protect consumers by putting the U.S. Postal Service on the hook for late delivery of bills. The bill which is co-sponsored by Missouri congressmen Sam Graves would require the USPS to pay any late fees incurred due to delayed delivery services. The bill would enable anyone who incurred a late fee due to the late delivery of a bill to file a claim for a late fee repayment. A Wichita man surrendered to police in Riley County on Thursday after a warrant was put out for his arrest on a slew of charges headlined by violating a protective order. Officers arrested Jeffrey Junkenmeier, 59, just prior to 6 p.m. on Thursday evening on a Riley County District Court warrant for five counts of violating a protective order and two counts for making a criminal threat. A Manhattan woman is behind bars following her arrest on Thursday afternoon for a number of offense headlined by aggravated assault and endangering a child. Officers arrested Tanasha Dupree, 32, just prior to 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Candle Crest Circle. Dupree has been charged with probable cause offenses of aggravated assault, endangerment of a child, criminal damage to property, battery, interference with law enforcement and battery on a law enforcement officer. Flu doctor office visits are on the rise in the state of Kansas according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. For the first time in two years, the percentage of office visits for possible flu is the highest Kansas has seen. Symptoms that are lead to flu visits include body aches, fevers, runny nose, sore throat, cough and shortness of breath. The KDHE says 7% of clinic visits are for these symptoms. That’s a sharp increase from last year, which was only at 3.5%.
