A Manhattan man was injured Saturday following a rollover accident in southern Riley County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that just before 6:30 p.m., a Jeep Grand Cherokee was southbound in the 400 block of Sandy Land Road, just north of K-18 near Zeandale. The vehicle left the roadway into the west ditch and rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest in a nearby field. A Manhattan man has been arrested on charges related to an alleged stabbing Friday night in Reno County. According to Hutchinson Police, 31-year-old Bryce Baker was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing. Police say an investigation determined Baker was involved in a fight at a garage just after 11:30 p.m. on the city’s southwest side. During the altercation, a knife was pulled, and 52-year-old Brian Dailey of Gardner was stabbed four times. Junction City High School will move all students into remote learning for the month of December. The district announced the shift Saturday in a news release. The change only impacts the high school. There will be no school Monday and Tuesday while administrators work to move all high school students to remote learning. Classes will resume on Wednesday. Students will be allowed to enter the building briefly Monday and Tuesday to retrieve any items needed for remote learning. An 87-year-old Riley County woman has become the 15th local resident to die from COVID-19 complications since the virus first presented in March. The health department says she was a resident of the Leonardville Nursing Home and died Tuesday, after initially testing positive on Nov. 3. No further information is being released. The county tallied 136 new positive cases Friday but also added 209 to the recovered list. The health department is currently monitoring 436 active cases, including eight patients in the hospital and two persons under investigation, showing symptoms, but awaiting test results. Winter sports will proceed with some extra precautions the next few weeks after the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Board of Directors voted to not delay the season. Among those precautions, no fans will be allowed from Dec. 1 through Jan. 28. Thanksgiving was held at Fort Riley, with some notable adjustments this year due to COVID-19. Meals were served Thursday afternoon to soldiers at the Devil’s Den and Whitside Dining Facilities, with several safety protocols in place, including tents set up outside the facilities. Updated COVID-19 case numbers were not immediately available Wednesday from the Riley or Pottawatomie County Health Departments. Riley County did release its weekly percent positive rate for the week of Nov. 15 through Nov. 21, which remained about the same as the week before at 16 percent, with 419 testing positive out of over 2,600 total tests. The two week average also is hovering is just above 16 percent. The health department says it say 793 people test positive out of just over 4,900 tests between Nov. 8 and Nov. 21. The new website is called MHKHousing.com and is entirely student run through Collegian Media Group at Kansas State University. The site, which officially launches in January, offers an extensive, consolidated online catalog of off-campus housing. Authorities in Pottawatomie County say a number of vehicles were burglarized in the early morning hours Monday in and around the small community of Emmett. Sheriff Shane Jager says a total of seven reports were taken and some of the stolen items included firearms. The total loss from the burglaries is estimated at $1,800. The Riley County Commission is proceeding with a new countywide mask mandate taking effect at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. The mandate, part of Local Health Order 19 requires face coverings or masks be worn over the mouth and nose in any public space in Riley County, defined as any indoor or outdoor space or area that is open to the public. This does not include private residential property or private offices or work spaces that are not open ot customers or public visitors. Masks are not required in outdoor public spaces if a distance of six feet can be maintained. Riley…
