Fort Riley’s Irwin Army Community Hospital is offering a community flu-vaccine drive thru event Saturday. Hospital commander Colonel Edgar Arroyo says military retirees will be provided a special lane in support of Fort Riley Retiree Appreciation Day. He also explains what will be offered. Arroyo says the hospital currently uses an outdated clinical system that limits the ability to track a retiree’s vaccine records. The Riley County Police Department is investigating after four individuals were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in Ogden late Saturday night. According to police, a call came in around 11:20 p.m. Saturday for the report of shots fired in the 200 block of Riley Ave. Two male shooting victims were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment of injuries. Additionally, two other victims were also injured. Police say the four men range in age from 19 to 28 years old. The Riley County Health Department announced Saturday that Dirty Dawg Saloon, located in Aggieville, has been forced to close after the establishment had multiple violations of the most recent local health order. Violations were obtained by Riley County Police Department body camera footage, and included overcrowding, open dance floors and staying open past midnight. The closure went into effect at 10 a.m. Saturday and will remain in effect until the bar’s owner, Jeffery Hawkinson, takes action to comply with Local Health Order No. 18. Friday was the final day mail in ballots could be accepted in Kansas for the general election. That said, the race for Riley County Commission District 3 seat remains within single digits. At the end of business Friday, the Riley County Clerk’s office reported Republican John Matta received one additional vote from Thursday, pushing his advantage to three votes over Democrat Kathryn Focke. A Utah man is jailed following a Thursday chase that began in rural Pottawatomie County and ended in Manhattan. According to a release from Pottawatomie County Sheriff Shane Jager, a 911 call was received just after 11:30 a.m. from an individual working on the Belvue bridge on Schoeman Road when a black Honda reportedly almost ran over construction workers. Deputies were alerted to the reckless driver and began a pursuit on Hwy 24 near Wamego. No injuries were reported following a small kitchen fire was reported inside a Manhattan townhome Thursday. Members of the Manhattan Fire Department responded around 9:30 a.m. to a two-story townhome at 2528 Candle Crest Circle showing light smoke. The fire, on the stovetop, was extinguished within five minutes. The occupants of the home were able to exit unharmed. Loss was estimated at $8,000 to contents and another $3,000 to the building, which contains eight townhomes. The unit with the fire was the only one affected by the fire. Manhattan voters have approved a 0.5 percent citywide sales tax measure. The extension was passed by a landslide margin on Tuesday, with 11,138 voting in favor and 7,212 voting against. City manager Ron Fehr tells KMAN that passing this initiative will help the city pay down some of its debts. “We’ll have the new revenue stream that will take care of those pledges and so we can start focusing on other priorities in recovery efforts right away with some of the proceeds that are currently in reserve,” he said. State Sen. Tom Hawk has clinched re-election in the 22nd District, which encompasses Riley, Clay and Geary counties. Hawk edged out Republican Craig Bowser by 332 votes, holding a 51 to 49 to percent margin Tuesday night.
