Leti Romero will continue her college basketball career at Florida State after transferring from K-State after the 2013-14 season. Florida State confirmed the move in a press release Monday. Romero was a second team All-Big 12 selection this past season while leading K-State in scoring and rebounding with 14.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. “Leticia is a significant addition to Florida State Women’s Basketball,” FSU head coach Sue Semrau said in the release. “She has already proven that she is a tremendous player at this level. Manhattan High was well represented on the 2014 6A All-State baseball team. Outfielder Brett Fehr and designated hitter Jacob Biller were both first team selections and played in the KABC All-State game earlier this week at Tointon Family Stadium. Both of the MHS aces on the mound were honored, with Jesse Steinbring named to the second team and Henry deNoble receiving honorable mention. First baseman Chris Klug and outfielder Kellen Myers also picked up honorable mention honors. The Indians racked up a school record 22 wins on their way to a Centennial League championship and third place finish at state.

The Manhattan High softball team landed two players on the coaches All Centennial League team. Junior second baseman Lindsey Hageman was a first-team selection after leading the Indians in batting average (.408) during the league season. She only struck out once in Centennial League play and led the team in fielding chances. Another junior, outfielder Savannah Thaemert, was named to the second team. She hit .375, scored 15 runs and was second in the league in stolen bases, going 11 for 11 on stolen base attempts. The wait is finally over for Leti Romero. K-State announced Tuesday that she has been granted a release to transfer anywhere outside of the Big 12. K-State says the transfer comes “as a result of a newly modified institutional policy.” K-State athletics director John Currie was able to get the K-State Athletics Board of Directors to approve a recommendation to retroactively apply the amended policy. Currie made his recommendation for more flexibility in the appeals process for transfer releases in a letter to President Kirk Schulz. K-State pitcher Jake Matthys will transfer from the baseball program after two seasons in Manhattan. Matthys tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon. @Jake_Matthys   Thank you to everyone at kstate, going to miss being there and being apart of that team Matthys was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2013 as K-State’s closer, but struggled during his sophomore season. He had a record of just 2-5 with an ERA of 8.07 in 2014 and was bumped from his role as K-State’s closer with just three saves on the season. He was third on the team with 20 appearances.

K-State’s Ross Kivett was named to the All-Big 12 second team as a utility player, and Tanner DeVinny was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman team, the league announced today. It’s the second year in a row that Kivett has been honored by the league, after winning Big 12 Player of the Year in 2013. This season Kivett hit .333 with four home runs and 33 runs batted in while starting all 55 of K-State’s games. He led the Big 12 in stolen bases in league games (12), and was tied for tenth in hits (28) and runs scored (15).…

K-State has announced that Daniel Sams has been granted a conditional release from his scholarship to transfer to an FCS program near his hometown of Slidell, La. “Daniel requested to be able to continue his playing career at an FCS institution so that he could be closer to some of his aging family members,” K-State athletics director John Currie said in a press release. “We appreciate his contributions and wish him the best.” Sams will be able to compete right away and be on scholarship at an FCS school, and he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
