Faculty in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University are now offering assistance to those applying for the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program and the Veterinary Services Grant Program. The Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program, or VMLRP, pays up to $25,000 each year toward qualified educational loans of eligible veterinarians who agree to serve in a USDA-designated veterinary shortage situation for three years. The Veterinary Services Grant Program, or VSGP, helps relieve…

MANHATTAN — The winter solstice begins this week, plus a weather forecast including snow and dangerous wind chills means winter is officially here. A Kansas State University veterinarian says now is the time to bring some pets inside. “It is time to consider bringing your cat or dog inside for warmth,” said Susan Nelson, clinical professor at the Kansas State University Veterinary Health Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine. “Pets that are very young or old, and those not acclimated to the colder weather, should be brought in during the colder temperatures.” Nelson advises dogs with heavy coats could get too warm…

Recruiting starts earlier and earlier. Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman and company have had to follow that blueprint as well, especially on the local scene. That’s what they geared the weekend towards when they hosted Missouri for the first time in 11 years. It was dedicated to more of the high school underclassmen. Kansas State offered a 2025 Lee’s Summit North wide receiver in April. His name is Isaiah Mozee and he was one of the many standouts from the state of Missouri that was in Manhattan to see the Wildcats blast the Tigers. “We got there and we ate breakfast,” Mozee said. “We measured…

Vaughn completed his eighth straight 100-yard game on the ground dating back to last season. He finished with 24 carries, 145 yards and two touchdowns. Martinez was once again unable to get his aerial attack going as a Wildcat. He barely eclipsed 100 yards passing and completed only 45 percent of his throws. Granted, it was a rainy day and his receivers…

Originally posted on kstateonline.com by Derek Young ADAPTING TO CONDITIONS To be honest, I lost track of how difficult the weather conditions made it for both of the offenses at Kansas State and Missouri. It didn’t hit me until I made the walk from the press box to the team meeting room inside the football complex. For those not in the stadium, it was miserable. It was even chillier than expected, windy and the rain was consistent but also heavy at times. That made it nearly impossible to throw the ball with efficiency at certain points of the game. We…

Originally posted on kstateonline.com by Derek young K-State Online wasted no time checking out Kansas State running back target John Randle, Jr. this season. The Wichita Heights standout is an On3 Consensus four-star prospect and labeled as the third-best player in the state. Though he was fighting through some intense cramps, he busted loose a few times in the loss to perennial 5A powerhouse Wichita Northwest. That included a touchdown of his own where he out-ran every defender for a 46-yard touchdown scamper. He continues to make strides in his game. “I feel like I always have room to improve,” Randle,…

Originally posted on kstateonline.com by Grant Flanders Wesley Fair committed to Kansas State in the Spring as the third pledge of the 2023 class. He followed shortly after fellow Wichita native Will Anciaux announced his college decision to be a Wildcat. Like many instate commits, Fair has been to Manhattan many times, and now that he’s just entered his senior season, the safety is eager to get to as many gameday visits in as he can to Manhattan. He was able to see K-State shutout South Dakota in Bill Snyder Family stadium last weekend and brought a couple of mentees with him. Not…

I have a hard time seeing seven players catching a this week against Missouri with what will likely be a tighter rotation. DEREK YOUNG: OVER The rotation will surely be tighter, but I believe I only need four receivers to catch a pass, and I see that being the case. Missouri is going to force the Wildcats to throw. At least four receivers, Ben Sinnott, Samuel Wheeler and Deuce Vaughn takes…

Originally posted on kstateonline.com by Derek Young REPLACING POITIER As has been shared repeatedly by now, Kansas State will be without the services of Taylor Poitier for the rest of the season after he suffered an injury versus South Dakota. Many of his teammates and coaches have expressed their feelings for him since the development. Hadley Panzer, who will fill in for him, had nothing but great things to say about how great of a teammate Poitier is and how their heart breaks for him after all he did to overcome last year’s setback. As Chris Klieman stated, sometimes the cruelest things happen to the best…
