Drive-thru chain 151 Coffee is set to open in Manhattan Dec. 1 at 900 North Third St. It specializes in blended energy drinks, smoothies, refreshers and, of course, coffee. The Manhattan location also will include outdoor seating for customers. Mark Wattles founded 151 Coffee in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2017. The chain has 12 established locations and four that are “coming soon” — all of which are in Texas and Kansas. Local Democratic candidates in the last three months have raised and spent more money campaigning for the state legislature than their Republican opponents, campaign finance reports show Democratic state Sen. Usha Reddi has a substantial fundraising advantage over Republican challenger Brad Starnes. Reddi raised $63,283.23 between July 26 and Oct. 24 in her quest to retain the District 22 seat, bringing her cash on hand — which is total contributions minus total expenditures — to $35,462 after spending $82,934.27 during that period. Beto Aguilar on Tuesday showed off the interior of a new Aggieville restaurant, Loco Lime. But even at lunchtime, the space was conspicuously empty, which he said highlights the difficulties of running a business in the district. Aguilar is the kitchen and operations manager for the restaurant, Loco Lime Tacos and Tequila, owned by Xochil Oyervides. It’s at 1116 Moro St., where Gordo’s had previously been. The Riley County Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that it has arrested a local man for attempted murder and aggravated battery. The RCPD put out a press release around 1:30 p.m. to announce that 53-year-old Marcus Washington was arrested for attempted murder and aggravated battery in connection with Tuesday night’s stabbing. On Tuesday, RCPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Walters Dr. in Manhattan at around 10:45 PM. On October 29, 2024, at approximately 5:22 p.m., officers in Manhattan filed a report involving domestic battery, violation of a protection order, and assault on a law enforcement officer. A 43-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were listed as victims in the incident. Justin Staley, 42, was subsequently arrested on charges of domestic battery, violation of a protection order, and assault on a law enforcement officer. Staley was issued a total bond of $20,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report. He was also arrested in Riley County on March 1st, 2021.
