According to the arrest report, 20-year-old Keshaun Jakese Thompson of Junction City was taken into custody by the Kansas Highway Patrol on Friday evening at Fort Riley Boulevard and Westwood Road. Thompson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His total bond was set at $1,500. Authorities say a Manhattan smoke shop is under investigation for the illegal distribution of marijuana and THC products. The Riley County Police Department executed a search warrant Thursday at Chill Vibes Smoke and Vape, in the 100 block of Sarber Lane, in what they say is part of a larger overall investigation that began earlier this year. Police say it is not linked to any recent enforcement by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. A 74-year-old Leonardville woman died Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in rural Riley County, authorities said. Officers with the Riley County Police Department responded to the 12000 block of Green-Randolph Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 9. Upon arrival, they found that a 2017 Buick Encore, driven by Sharon Sando, had veered off the roadway and rolled into a ditch. Sando was pronounced dead at the scene. A Manhattan woman was seriously injured early Wednesday after being struck by a truck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, according to police. Officers responded to the intersection of 11th Street and Moro Street at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Oct. 9, where they found Madison Asbury, 19, had been hit by a 2019 Ford F-350.
