KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — The struggling Kansas City T-Bones baseball team is being evicted from its stadium in Kansas because of unpaid debts. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City Kansas announced Monday it is ending its management agreement with the T-Bones and has given the team until Sept. 13 to remove all its property from the publicly-owned stadium in Kansas City, Kansas. ANDOVER, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas police dog named Thor has died just a few weeks before he was to retire. The Andover Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers will wear black armbands through Saturday in honor of the Belgian Malinois. He had a brief illness and died over the weekend, just short of his 10th birthday. Thor was trained to detect drugs, as well as in tracking and trailing. TOPEKA — The families of several hundred Kansas inmates who are being sent to a private prison in Arizona worry about how often they’ll be able to see their loved ones after the move. Leoti Masterson says she treasures her weekly visits with her son even though she has to drive about two hours each way every time. Masterson says it’s hard to imagine being able to visit the CoreCivic prison in Arizona as often. NEWMAN — Authorities say two people have been killed and two injured in a northeast Kansas crash. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened Saturday night in Jefferson County when a driver lost control on a curve and went off the side of Kansas 237. The pickup truck then overturned several times. The patrol says the crash killed two passengers 46-year-old Christopher Webb, of Topeka, and 21-year-old Luke Puccinelli, of Oskaloosa. The driver and another passenger were taken to a Topeka hospital with injuries that were believed to be serious.
WICHITA — Authorities say strong winds caused about 140 rail cars from two trains to derail over the weekend in central Kansas. The Wichita Eagle reports that the derailments happened late Saturday near Walton. The National Weather Service says the rail cars were all empty and many were double stacked. No injuries were reported. Wind gusts at a nearby airport in Newton measured as high as high 67 mph around the time of the derailment.

WICHITA — A missing Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy is believed to be in Turkey. Sheriff Jeff Easter says Homeland Security was able to confirm that Deputy Derick Chandler flew to Istanbul. KAKE-TV reports Chandler Chandler is implicated in an investigation in Wellington of a sex crime involving a 13-year-old. On Monday, a deputy found Chandler’s gun, badge, identification and armor in the back of his patrol car. He hadn’t been on duty for about a week. Investigators believe he drove from Wichita to Dallas, flew to Houston and took another flight to Istanbul. Wellington officials have not issued a warrant…
