A Manhattan man was arrested Wednesday evening after being transported from the Pottawatomie County Jail on a Riley County District Court warrant for violation of a protection order. The Riley County Police Department says the warrant against 26-year-old Kurtis Rich, stems from original charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim, criminal damage to property and two counts of domestic battery. Online court records show the offenses are alleged from last September. Rich remains jailed on a $50,000 bond.

Derrick Milton, 44, of Dolton, Ill. was arrested on June 21, 2023, around 9:00 a.m. on his Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. He was also arrested for interference with parental custody in connection to a 2021 parental custody case. Milton remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $17,000. Sports In Kansas has named Wamego’s Peyton Hardneburger its All-4A and All-Class pitcher. The sophomore went 11-0 on the year for the State Champions, striking out 182 batters in 76 innings of work. She added five no-hitters, including blanking Eudora in the state semifinals and McPherson in the championship as Wamego scratched out one-nothing wins in both.

The roster for K-State’s annual entry in the TBT tournament later this summer is set, headlined by Jacob Pullen, Rodney Mcgruder and Kamau Stokes. Marcus Foster, Henry Walker, Martavious Irving, Mike McGuril, DJ Johnson, Thomas Gipson and Justin Edwards are joined by non-Cats Marquis Addison and Khalid Thomas. One person was injured Wednesday following a crash on I-70 in Geary County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a semi driven by 50-year-old Raymond McNett, of Plevna, Kansas, was attempting to exit the interstate at Exit 311. The vehicle exited too quickly and rolled onto the driver’s side just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. McNett was transported to Stormont Vail Health in Junction City with only minor injuries.

During their meeting Tuesday, Manhattan City Commissioners voted to approve two rezoning requests for residential districts. The first request approved was from Midwest Concrete Materials to rezone their property at 407 Pottawatomie Avenue from low-density residential to business commercial to allow for construction of a training facility. This request was previously denied recommendation from the Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board and gathered significant pushback from neighboring property owners. Many felt it was most appropriate for the lot to remain residential and avaible for housing development.
